MANAPUA PACKAGING
PACKAGING DESIGN
BRIEF (SCHOOL PROJECT)
Design graphics and a package form (whether it be new or already existing) for a product that is or could be packaged in a paper bag, box or carton and would be sold at a campus food market.
CONCEPT
The goal for this project was to design a package for a food product that I would like to see in more American campus markets, which is more international food options. These types of options can bring comfort to POC students as well as be a quick and easy meal/snack for students who have little time to eat.
PROCESS
SKETCHES
I couldn’t decide whether to design packaging for musubis or manapuas at first, so I sketched out some packaging form ideas for both. Eventually, I chose Golden Coin Food Industries manapuas. Since musubis are usually already wrapped in plastic wrap, and I didn’t want to add more waste by creating extra packaging.
LO-FI PROTOTYPES
I tried some less-conventional package forms and a classic clam-shell box.
ASSET ITERATIONS
Different attempts at designing the top and incorporating a weaved texture.
DESIGN ITERATIONS
Last few iterations of the full package design before printing. The final design was laser printed and screen printed.
